In November 2016 we held a two day Education and Knowledge sharing conference , in Carlingford.

Day 1Intensive Soil Health Workshop with Dr. Jill Clapperton from the USA

Topics to be covered include: Soil microbiology, Plant health, Nutrient-dense foods and Covercrops.

Day 2Biological Farming Conference with the following speakers:

  • Dr.Jill Clapperton from Rhizoterra Inc, USA.
  • Dr Jonathan Lundgreen from Blue Dasher Farms, USA.
  • Andy Howard, No-Till farmer and Nuffield Scholar, UK.
  • Jonny Green who is a No-Till and Livestock farmer from Co.Kildare, Ireland.
  • Steve Townsend who is the Chairman of Base UK.

Topics to be covered include: Soil Health, Carbon Farming, Irish & UK farmer No-Till experiences, Managing covercrops, Rainfall Simulator, Pest and Disease resistance challenges and a systems approach to biological farming, Principles of Conservation agriculture etc.

  • Dr M. Jill Clapperton (PhD), Owner of Rhizoterra Inc, USA

Dr Jill Clapperton is the Principal Scientist, Co-founder and owner of Rhizoterra Inc. and a well-known international lecturer and advocate for practices that promote soil health. Jill was the Rhizosphere Ecologist for 16 years at Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada’s Lethbridge Research Centre in Lethbridge Alberta Canada before she moved to her husband’s family ranch in the Bitterroot Valley of western Montana. She is often seen during the growing season on the Rhizoterra Experimental farm north of Reardan Washington USA.

  • Dr Jonathan Lundgreen, CEO of Blue Dasher Farms America.

    Dr. Lundgren is an agroecologist, Director ECDYSIS Foundation, and CEO for Blue Dasher Farm. Lundgren’s research program focuses on assessing the ecological risk of pest management strategies and developing long-term solutions for sustainable food systems. His ecological research focuses heavily on conserving healthy biological communities within agroecosystems by reducing disturbance and increasing biodiversity within cropland.

2014

In November 2014 , we had a fantastic guest speaker join us, Professor Frederic Thomas, he is the founder of BASE (biodiversity, agriculture, soil and environment) in France with over 1000 members. His main interest is conservation agriculture, which essentially  relates to carbon management in soil, a focus is placed on minimizing soil disturbance, rotations and residue cover on the soil. Thank you for the visit Frederic !!

National Ploughing Championship 2014

Precision Nutrition attended Ireland’s National Ploughing Championship 23rd – 25th September in Rathemiska, Stradbally, Co. Laois. This is Europe’s largest outdoor exhibition and agricultural trade show.

‘The Principles of Biological Farming’ with guest speaker Gary Zimmer 2014

Our own Robbie Byrne was joined by U.S Dairy and Tillage Consultant Gary Zimmer from the 8th – 11th September 2014. They traveled around Ireland hosting seminars in Cork, Tipperary, Kilkenny, Wexford, Kildare, Meath and our home base of Co. Louth. With multiple seminars each day it was a very busy week at Precision Nutrition!! This event materialised quickly as Gary was not originally suppose to visit Ireland until 2015 however the opportunity arose for him to come sooner and we jumped at it! Gary is just as passionate about biological farming as we are. He is CEO of MidWestern BioAg, owns an Organic Farm in the U.S and is a bestselling author, this as well as spending six months of year delivering his captivating seminars worldwide! He provided expertise and advice to the farmers of Ireland based on his own experiences. We were delighted to host his visit and hope to see him again soon in the future. We will keep everyone posted for when he is due for another visit, if you missed him the first time you certainly wouldn’t want to miss out again. Go raibh maith agat Gary !!

Albrecht Kinsey Soils Workshop with Neal Kinsey 3rd-5th Feb 2014

Precision Nutrition hosted this workshop in the Osprey Hotel, Co. Kildare from the 3rd – 5th February 2014, This was an intensive 3 day workshop, with over 60 participants. It was an introduction to the ever popular Albrecht method of soil fertility. This method has been tested and proven worldwide by professor William Albreacht, this systems helps to build, balance and maintain excellent soil fertility. This workshop covered started with the basics of  using and interpreting soil samples, straight through to the complexities of working with Micro nutrients.  Day 1 had the focus of working with soil tests,pH and Liming, Day 2 – Working with Major nutrients and Day 3 was based on working with Micro- nutrients.

Flex Academy Fertiliser Gathering 2012

Robbie spoke at was the Flex Academy Fertiliser gathering in January 2012, he presented a PowerPoint presentation that showcased a number of photographs from the recent trials that we conducted.  The audience was amazed at the level of growth in the trials.

NIPMA Event 2011

Robbie regularly speaks at conferences around the country to provide advice on growing crops and using the biological products to do so.
